My Graduation Bucket List

After four years of uni i'm incredibly excited to be able to do a bunch of stuff that has no relation to my degree whatsover and feel guilt free about it. Every time I've come home and done bloggy bits or activities that aren't about my degree the guilt is so real, even if i'm on top of my work I feel the weight of uni bearing down on me (tad dramatic but whatever) and now I can finally do things guilt free.

So at number 1..
Reading for Pleasure

I literally never have the time to read for pleasure except in summer and now all the books I read will only be for pleasure! Since I do English lit there's always stuff to be reading for the course, and even if you've read the core material there's extra stuff you can be reading (not that I'm that type of student but the options there ha).
Soo I've got a whole list of books I want to read and reread- I haven't reread a book for the fun of it in over four years so I am buzzed. My top three that I want to read/reread are:
A Thousand Splendid Suns, Purple Hibiscus and Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race.
Nothing sounds more perfect to me right now than sitting in a park somewhere in London and getting through one of these while I sip a pimms. That's British summer right there.

Number 2: Rooftop Bars

I'm a tad obsessed with London's skyline and always on the look out for a bar with a view, although even if it's a rooftop bar without one I'm pretty happy. I can't wait to spend afternoons and evenings splashing the money I don't have at lovely rooftop settings.
Ones I haven't yet been to but want to try are : Pergola, Roof top East, John Lewis Oxford Street, Bar Elba, The Queen of Hoxton and The Aviary
Ones I plan on returning to: Skylight, Netil360, Brouhaha, Franks Cafe
So as you can see I've got quite a big list to get through, but with three months of summer ahead I'm sure I can manage it.

Number 3: Parks Parks Parks
I just love London parks and have so many that I have yet to see. I want to explore Greenwich Park, Richmond Park, Epping Forest, Hyde Park.
I also have personal favorites like: Alexandra Palace, Regents Park, Holland Park and Primrose Hill.
Going to these parks will be the perfect time to read those books I was banging on about.

Number 4 : Meet other bloggers
As I'm trying to break into the blogging world I have a real appreciation for the people I follow and others content I read. I would love to be able to actually meet some of the people I have common interests with and bond over a summery activity.

Number 5: Exploring new parts of London
As a Tastemaker I literally spend so much time sussing out new things to do in London- it's my favorite activity as it makes me feel purposeful and it's just enriching for myself. Whether it be with people or not I love exploring the city and seeing what's going on.

Number 6: Swimming
Throughout the year I always say I want to go swimming and never get round to going, I guess I'm just incredibly lazy, but during the summer months there's no excuse not to and I have a few places in mind I want to go to. Every week my friend Amb goes to London Fields Lido so I plan on joining her; it's heated and outdoors so sounds like the best of both worlds. I also love going to the Hampstead Heath Swimming Ponds during summer. It's the most refreshing thing on a really really hot day and such a sociable activity.

Number 7: Food markets and Festivals
If there's one thing London knows it's food. Every year I go to the Ally Pally Foodies Festival and this year will be no different; it's cheese galore, drinks a plenty and all of the amazing scents you can imagine. I also plan on checking out Maltby Street Market, a Meat Festival, a Chicken Wing Festival and Kerb.

So there we go: my graduation bucket list. I guarantee it will grow as there's always new stuff to do in lovely London. It's so surreal to me that I'm finishing and I really want to make the most out of what might be my last summer ever. Reading for pleasure, drinking Aperol Spritz and meeting new people sounds like a pretty perfect summer to me. What are your plans?

5 Cheese Shops Every Cheese-a-holic should head to

As someone who is obsessed with cheese I have spent a fair amount of time sussing out London's most fabulous cheese mongers. There are so many to bring up, but I thought I would go with the five that I return to most frequently. So at number 1: Paxton and Whitfield. Dating back to the 1700s, Paxton and Whitfield is London's oldest cheese shop and stocks amazing cheeses from around the world. I come here annually to buy cheese for Christmas day, and I am unashamed to admit it's probably one of my favorite expeditions of the year. They serve something for everyone from creamy goats cheese to smack you in the face blues. The range is extensive and the staff are happy to help you pick the perfect cheeses to match your pallet and the occasion. Number 2: La Fromagerie. Based in Highbury and Mayfair this cheese shop holds an authentic feel and is the first experience I'd had of a cheese shop. I go to the one in Highbury and Islington as it's local to me and I never...

Recipe of the Week: Taramasalata

As a new feature of my blog I've decided to write a recipe each week. These will vary in terms of if i'm trying to have a healthy week or an indulgent one so you'll certainly get an idea of what's in my food shop- but who doesn't love to be nosey ey? So kick starting the first weekend of 2018 my recipe of the week is homemade taramasalata! Ever since being diagnosed with coeliac I knew this would be the hardest thing to give up. When people ask me what I miss the most they probably expect to hear pizza or fresh bread but that isn't the case for me. Taramasalata is my favorite food ever and since I can't buy it in the shop anymore I've had to learn how to make it myself. For those who aren't familiar with what it is, it's basically a fresh greek dip made from smoked cod roe that is zesty, oniony and really smoky. As my friend Melina describes it it's 'greek caviar but better'; I must admit I agree with her.  The tricky part is...

Porto, Portugal

Ahhh Porto, where to begin? The people were lovely, the place was stunning and the food was exceptional. This was a much needed break after university and the realities of grad life. We started our trip flying with TAP Portugal which is one of the nicest airlines I've ever used.. we got free wine! Once we'd landed we got on the metro to our hotel in Balhou. Porto's metro is like a much nicer tube; it's spacious, air conned and very easy to understand. When coming up the stairs of Balhou station we were greeted by this stunning church (one I'd been hoping to see from my Instagram research) which was breathtaking and set a great tone for the holiday.  Our hotel was alright, but its location was why we chose it; it was nice to be in the heart of Porto and made travelling around so easy. On our first evening we went for a glass of wine (standard) and then a concert of Fado and Flamenco which offered a festive introduction to Portuguese culture. We then wen...
