Flat Iron, where to begin?
I've heard so much about this restaurant and been meaning to go for a while. I tried once but they said it was going to be a two hour wait and my hunger couldn't hack it. Luckily this time I went around 1.30 with my mum and we were told the wait was only 20 minutes and I couldn't say no to that.
Upon arrival the staff take you to your table, stopping off at the popcorn machine to give you some free beef dripping and thyme popcorn. Personally, popcorn has never really been my thing but this was just what I fancied and was the perfect introduction to the beautiful beef that was about to grace our table.
In terms of gluten free, most of the menu is gluten free and the staff simply crossed out what I couldn't eat, making it a really clear and an easy ordering process.
I went for the medium rare flat iron steak with bernaise sauce, beef dripping chips and creamed spinach. The meat was melt in the mouth and you're given a cleaver to cut it, they really don't mess about here. The spinach was creamy with a hint of nutmeg and the chips were oh so moorish and crispy. Everything was cooked to perfection and came really quickly.
I shared the chips and the spinach with mum and we were both super full by the end as the steak is pretty hefty. They offered us free icecream at the end but it had a high chance of cross contamination so I didn't risk it, plus I was already carrying a steak shape food baby.
If you get the chance to go to Flat Iron just do it. It's so simple and so perfect. They don't need an extensive menu as they know that what they do offer is damn good and doesn't need any other additions. Feel free to comment letting me know if you loved it as much as I did!
