My Top Three Summer Activities in London

Since we're in a bit of a heatwave right now I thought I'd write about a few of my favorite summer activities to do in London which I'm trying to do before the good weather goes away!

1) Rooftop bars
This is the epitome of a summers day/evening for me. London is blessed with a hella lot of tall buildings, some of which take the form of rooftop bars. I would suggest going to Netil 360, Skylight, Brouhaha or Franks Cafe. The only one without a view of the skyline is Brouhaha but it makes a more intimate setting for a quiet drink or chill.

2) Parks
Everyone loves lounging in the park when it's sunny, you can drink, have a picnic, play ping pong or just chill out with a book or some headphones. My favorite London parks are Alexandra Palace, Primrose Hill and the Heath.

3) Swimming
When it's hot take advantage of swimming! It's exercise, it's refreshing and London has some wicked places to go. Hit the ponds at Hampstead Heath or your local lido and cool off in this fantastic heat.

So there we go, three fun, relaxing and summery things to do while we're in this heatwave. You can go solo or with friends, either way the city has so many options for summer fun.

5 Cheese Shops Every Cheese-a-holic should head to

As someone who is obsessed with cheese I have spent a fair amount of time sussing out London's most fabulous cheese mongers. There are so many to bring up, but I thought I would go with the five that I return to most frequently. So at number 1: Paxton and Whitfield. Dating back to the 1700s, Paxton and Whitfield is London's oldest cheese shop and stocks amazing cheeses from around the world. I come here annually to buy cheese for Christmas day, and I am unashamed to admit it's probably one of my favorite expeditions of the year. They serve something for everyone from creamy goats cheese to smack you in the face blues. The range is extensive and the staff are happy to help you pick the perfect cheeses to match your pallet and the occasion. Number 2: La Fromagerie. Based in Highbury and Mayfair this cheese shop holds an authentic feel and is the first experience I'd had of a cheese shop. I go to the one in Highbury and Islington as it's local to me and I never...

Recipe of the Week: Taramasalata

As a new feature of my blog I've decided to write a recipe each week. These will vary in terms of if i'm trying to have a healthy week or an indulgent one so you'll certainly get an idea of what's in my food shop- but who doesn't love to be nosey ey? So kick starting the first weekend of 2018 my recipe of the week is homemade taramasalata! Ever since being diagnosed with coeliac I knew this would be the hardest thing to give up. When people ask me what I miss the most they probably expect to hear pizza or fresh bread but that isn't the case for me. Taramasalata is my favorite food ever and since I can't buy it in the shop anymore I've had to learn how to make it myself. For those who aren't familiar with what it is, it's basically a fresh greek dip made from smoked cod roe that is zesty, oniony and really smoky. As my friend Melina describes it it's 'greek caviar but better'; I must admit I agree with her.  The tricky part is...

Christmas in London

Christmas in London pops up pretty quickly and I personally love it. After an outstandingly hot summer I think we're all ready for a bit of cozying up and crisp winter air. This post outlines my favorite Christmas activities in the big city as there's so much on offer and a lot of these aren't too expensive either. The Winter Forest at Broadgate Tucked away behind Liverpool Street station, this winter forest is the perfect pine scented Christmas activity. Expect to be surrounded by Christmas trees and indulge in mulled wine, rum cocktails and blankets. I went last year after coming back from Norwich and it was the perfect welcome back into the city. Skylight London  Based in Tobacco Dock, this winter oasis is perfect for those looking for a winter rooftop. With an ice rink, ice hockey, street food and a killer view of the city, Skylight is an incredibly impressive and unique evening out. Lights, lights and more lights  One of the most magical things about Christ...
